In my opinion, the PS4 PRO is the best console for games on the market, and I’m here to convince you of that in this review. I am going to be reviewing the PS4 PRO at my house this month by running it through graphics tests and performance tests. I will see the limits and I will compare them to other consoles from different companies such as the Xbox 1S.
Reason One: The PS4 PRO has a better CPU According to Tech Radar and SONY, the PS4 PRO has an eight-core x86-64 AMD "Jaguar" CPU with a power of 1.8 GHz which beats the Xbox 1S 1.75 GHz CPU. The more GHz or gigahertz a CPU has the faster it can run games and applications. If you think about it, a CPU with a power of .01 GHz would make games run like a PowerPoint Presentation and a bad one at that. Reason 2: The PS4 PRO has a better graphics card. According to SONY, the PS4 PRO has a 4.2 teraflop graphics card. A flop or floating operation point determines the processing power of the graphics card. One teraflop is equivalent to 1 million million floating operations per second. The Xbox 1S has a max of 1.23 teraflop processing power. A graphics card with a power of .001 teraflop would make the graphics look like a fever dream with entities teleporting around, Frame-rate drops, and horrendous glitches and graphics. Reason 3: The PS4 PRO features VR support. According to business insider, the PS4 PRO supports a multitude of VR games like Gorn, Job Simulator, Rec Room, and Astro Bot and Playroom both made by SONY. You can even cross-play with PC players. Xbox planned to have VR support active in 2018. These were empty words and there still is no support. My experiences with the PS4 PRO have been, generally, excellent but here are a few of my notes on its performance Red Dead Redemption 2 runs incredibly smoothly despite running on maximum graphics. Slime Rancher begins to have small frame-rate drops at about 3 hours. At about 4 hours of playing Slime Rancher the fan overclocks. At about 6 hours a overheat message appears and frame-rate drops intensify. At about 8 it auto quits and turns off to prevent damage. It can run all games smoothly until 6hrs when it begins to overheat. |
